Between 2008 and 2012, Concept Yachts are proud to have worked with and supported Abu Dhabi Mar with the construction of their Swift 141 project.
Now officially named M/Y ‘YAS’, she was the 6th longest yacht in the world at the time of completion.
‘Yas’ 141 metres LOA, used the steel hull of a Dutch naval frigate, with a full composite superstructure replacing the naval structures, to create a unique style. The superstructure, the largest composite object of its kind ever built, was an exciting and challenging project for us to be a part of.
Our team of over 35 specialist technicians and consultants worked closely with Abu Dhabi Mar’s in-house Composite 6th Longest Department, under the direction of Andrew Lea, to help manage and train their 100-strong team. The ground-breaking result used the most advance techniques in composite manufacture, to produce what has been said to be “a major milestone in shipbuilding technology and art that will be difficult to surpass”.
